Budget Friendly Target Bedroom

Target is my go-to when I’m working on a tighter budget. This budget friendly, modern coastal design comes in just under $3,000.

I love Pottery Barn and Crate and Barrel. But to achieve this look by using their products, this room would cost around $12,000 minimum! I am going to show you how to break this budget friendly bedroom into 4 phases but before we dive into that, let’s check out some design inspiration photos for this space.

Art Selection

Design Credit: Studio Mcgee

Shea McGee is the queen of adding just the right touch of modern to her spaces with the use of abstract art. I love a good, neutral abstract piece of art that’s easy on the eyes. It just makes the space feel so fresh and brings it to the now without being too over the top. This is what I was going for whenever I selected the art for above the bed in the mood board.

Channel Tufted Headboard

This headboard is timeless and classic in my opinion. The headboard pictured on the mood board is a great dupe for this style!

End Of Bed Styling

Design Credit: Amber Interiors

On the mood board I have a bench pictured at the end of the bed with a simple throw blanket draped over top. This is a classic look but if you wanted to forgo the bench and your space allows it, you could also style the chairs and table at the end of your bed!

Budget Breakdown

Now I am going to break this low budget design down into four different phases to show you how you can budget and build your room piece by piece!

Phase One: Under $1,500

Headboard: $300.00

Neutral/Cream Oversized Pillows: $50.00

Lumbar Pillow: $35.00

Lamps: $120.00

Rug: $179.99

Abstract Art: $80.00

Duvet: $139

Sage Throw Blanket: $35.00

Bench: $159.99

Nightstands: $400

Total: $1,498.98

*If you wanted to keep phase one under $1,000, you could hold off on the nightstands and use what you currently have!

Phase Two: Under $2,000

Add:

Dresser: $400.00

Mirror: $70.00

Total: $1,968.98

*A note about the Dresser! This is actually a TV console! But I love the idea of folding your clothes and storing them on the shelving behind the doors. It’s easier to see your clothes when they’re folded and stacked! And this console actually had more storage than the dresser from this collection on the website! It’s okay to break the rules and use a console as a dresser. I promise! ;)

Phase Three:  Under $2,500

Add:

One Chair (Tan Boucle): $300.00

Table: $90.00

Faux Plant: $34.99

Total: $2,393.97

Can't swing both chairs quite yet? Start with one! Although I will caution you: Target’s Studio Mcgee collection usually sells out relatively quickly and sometimes the items don’t come back in stock as they’re always adding new things to their collection!

Phase Four (Full Design): Under $3,000

Add the finishing touches:

Tall Vase: $25.00

Short Vase: $28

Woven Tray: $25.00

Art: $20.00

Additional Chair: $300.00

Total: $2,886.97

So there you have it: a full bedroom design for under $3,000! And I’d also like to note, some of these items may be on sale when you’re shopping, so you could potentially be spending even less!
